Hey!
My name is Kristen DeTroia and I am a recent college graduate from Emerson College in Boston. My Major is Marketing Communications: PR and Advertising with a minor in Journalism. I have worked at Performer Magazine as the assistant editor and in the marketing department and it was one of the best experiences of my life. This past semester I was the promotions and booking intern with CNC Music Productions.
My passion in life is music and there is nothing better than seeing live shows and meeting amazing musicians. I truly care about all the bands and musicians out there with extraordinary talent, and it is my life goal to help out all of the lesser known musicians and create buzz and a larger fan base for them. I love working with musicians, by helping them with Marketing, promotions, PR, filming and photography. I plan to work in the music industry after I graduate. This website is all about reviews on local Boston Bands and concerts that I go to. Hope you like it and please check out all the bands I mention because they are really talented and amazing.
If you would like to contact me my email is kdetroy25@gmail.com
THANKS!

Hello, my name is Robert West and I represent boston band The Lone Pine Cones. They are essentially a psychedelic rock band with folk roots as well. I would love for you to give them a listen. I have kept up with your blog in the past and I really think this is a band you might like. I understand that you can’t write about everything that gets thrown at you, so no hard feelings if this falls through the cracks… but I do urge you to give them a listen first.
LPC is influenced by such bands as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Led Zeppelin, The Black Angels, The Kills, Fleet Foxes, Pink Floyd, The Secret Machines, and The White Stripes. Their live show is phenomenal and will grab the attention and praise of everyone in the audience. They also play fantastic acoustic shows if the venue demands it. This band is the real deal, they are in it for the long haul. Not only are they the coolest people I have ever met, they are the most committed, most ambitious, and most responsible.
The guys are studying music industry at Northeastern University in Boston. Over the past year, they have played 3-4 shows a month at Boston venues such as TT The Bears, All Asia, Harper’s Ferry, Church of Boston, and AfterHours. They have also previously played the World Cafe in Philadelphia. Over the past year, we’ve noticed their main audience are aged 25-40 due to their vintage and authentic sound. College age students are also fans, but the band has noticed that the 25-40 year olds were the ones who come up to them after every show giving them high compliments and demanding to know why they have not heard of them before.
They just released a new 4-song EP that can be downloaded for free by clicking the link below. Please give it a listen, I promise it will validate all of the praise that I have given them in my email.

The HeartSleeves are:
Ben Margolis – Saxaphone
Jared Lucas Nathanson – Lead Vocals
Joshua Lee Loomis – Guitar
Alex Blinn – Drums
Robert Gilmore – Bass
Douglas Batchelder – Engineer, Mixing
Songs composed & arranged by Jared Lucas Nathanson and Joshua Lee Loomis
Words & Melody by Jared Lucas Nathanson
Born in the glory and pageant of the noble working cities of Boise, Cleveland, Schenectady, Boston and Syracuse, “The HeartSleeves” is the voice of the no frills sincerity of real world American life. We listened to, and grew on the nourishment of Nina Simone, Johnny Cash, Curtis Mayfield, Jackson Five and The Impressions.
The HeartSleeves formed in 2007 when Jared Lucas Nathanson (vocals- Grits) and collaborator drinking buddy Wayne “Rhino” Flower (bass – The Halo Benders, Treepeople, Violent Green ) collided at high velocity with Jared’s high school chum Joel “JG” Greenlee (sax), Joshua Lee Loomis (vocals, guitar, keys – The Great Buriers) and Ariel “R E L” Rejman (drums – The Great Buriers, Air and Space Museum) down at the Fenway practice space. Country fell into the funk, soul got some pop and jazz on it and the Chocolate got covered in peanut butter.
After a some gigs and an album (Dirt & Water), we welcomed Ben Margolis (sax – The Peoples Donut) Robert Gilmore (bass – Air and Space Museum) and John McGregor (guitar – Overrated, Magambo and Soul Sauce).
We are currently working on our second album “Peripheral People” and will be releasing three singles from it shortly, including our New England sports tribute “Patriots Day,” and the Jewish Rock anthem “The Son of Lenny Bruce.”
If Thomas Hart Benton and Lenny Bruce had a band with Percy Sledge and Orson Welles…… We would open for them… no cost..

Hi Kristen,
I would love a mention on Down to Your Soul. I play indie rock in the Kristen Ford Band. The CD release is 9/24 at the Lizard Lounge. I would be happy to provide pics, the entire record, an interview or guest list you for the show.
Below is the press release and thanks for listening!
A Night of Female-fronted, Indie Folk-rock at The Lizard Lounge
with the Kristen Ford Band, the Abbie Barrett Band, and Audrey Ryan.
1667 Mass Ave, Cambridge, MA
Doors open at 8:30
In celebration of the Kristen Ford Band’s double EP release, The Lizard Lounge will host three of Boston’s favorite singer-songwriters on Friday, September 24. It’s indie-rock at its finest—and an event you won’t want to miss!
Kristen Ford has just completed her double-EP album Alone, Together, which features six solo tracks and six live recordings with her band. The music ranges from country to blues to gutter-folk, touching on everything from heartache to her adventures with dumpster-diving. For the “Alone” tracks, she worked with producer Audrey Ryan (see below). Ford, who began her career in Chicago, is also the host of the popular open-mic night at Bloc 11 (Somerville), and has spearheaded “Big Night Out,” a weekly, city-wide music and dance party (KRISTEN: Is this a GLBT event? If so, can we mention that?). She has just completed a successful residency at Bull McCabe’s and the Middle East. For more information, visit http://www.myspace.com/kfochicago
Audrey Ryan is a multi-instrumentalist, one-woman-band phenom based in Somerville and originally from coastal Maine. She plays guitar, accordion, banjo, ukulele whilst occasionally looping parts. She even adds drum beats with her feet. (It sounds impossible—but seeing is believing.) She has toured internationally, opening for Suzanne Vega, They Might be Giants, Rosh Ritter, NeedtoBreathe, and Grace Potter, among others. She was nominated “Outstanding Singer-Songwriter of the Year” in 2008 and “Best Folk Act” in 2009 at the Boston Music Awards, as well as “Best Female Vocalist” in 2009 and “Best Folk” in 2010 in The Boston Phoenix Music Poll. The Bangor Daily calls her album Dishes & Pills “a lush, beautifully arranged slice of indie-pop…the work of an intelligent songwriter and composer with a clear vision of the music.” For more information, visit http://www.audreyryan.org
Abbie Barrett’s music has been featured regularly on WXRV The River’s “Homegrown” program, and in American Songwriter and Performing Songwriter magazines. In 2008, the International Acoustic Music Awards gave Barrett runner-up in the category of Best Female Artist and included her song “Bang” on its compilation CD. That same year, she released her debut album, Dying Day, which Performing Songwriter called “a stellar first release—and the launch of a sure-to-be long and healthy career.” Her band plays regularly in the New England area, performing at Johnny D’s, Toad, the Paradise Lounge, and other local haunts, and in New York City.
